Keynote Speaker: Dr. John Oswalt returned to the Asbury Theological Seminary faculty in 2009 as visiting distinguished professor of Old Testament. This is his third term on Asbury Seminary’s faculty, having first served from 1970 to 1982 as professor of Old Testament and Semitic languages, and again from 1989 to 1999 as Professor of Old Testament.He has also served as research professor of Old Testament at Wesley Biblical Seminary in Jackson, Miss., from 1999 to 2009, was president of Asbury College from 1983 to 1986 and a member of the faculty of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill., from 1986 to 1989.He is the author of 11 books, most notable of which is the two-volume commentary on the book of Isaiah in the New International Commentary of the Old Testament. His most recent book is The Holy One of Israel: Studies in the Book of Isaiah, released in 2014. Dr. Oswalt is an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church, with membership in the Kentucky Annual Conference. He has served as a part-time pastor in congregations in New England and Kentucky, and is a frequent speaker in conferences, camps and local churches.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Leslie Vernick is a popular speaker, author, and licensed clinical social worker and relationship coach. She is the author of seven books, including best selling, The Emotionally Destructive Relationship and her most recent The Emotionally Destructive Marriage. Leslie has been a featured guest on Focus on the Family Radio, Family Life Today with Dennis Rainey, Moody Mid-Day Connection and writes a regular column for WHOA Women’s Magazine. Internationally. She has spoken in Canada, Romania, Russia, Hungary, the Philippines, British Virgin Islands and Iraq. In 2013, she received the American Association of Christian Counselors Caregiver of the Year Award.Leslie received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Illinois and has received post-graduate training in Biblical Counseling as well as Cognitive Therapy. Leslie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Pennsylvania.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Christopher Yuan What many would consider their worst nightmare has become a reality for Christopher Yuan. While attending dental school, he began living promiscuously as a gay man and experimenting with illicit drugs. Within a few years, he was expelled from dental school, imprisoned for drug dealing and discovered that he was HIV positive. But God has turned his nightmare into an exciting and inspiriting story of redemption, grace and transformation.He now teaches at Moody while continuing his speaking ministry which has reached four continents around the world. He is featured in the award-winning documentary HOPE Positive: Surviving the Sentence of AIDS, and has co-authored with his mother their memoir, Out of a Far Country: A Gay Son’s Journey to God, A Broken Mother’s Search for Hope. Christopher graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 2005, Wheaton College Graduate School in 2007 with a Master of Arts in Biblical Exegesis and received his Doctorate of Ministry in 2014 from Bethel Seminary.
Worship Leaders: The Talleys are one of Christian music’s most beloved and respected families. The Talleys consistently take their music with a message to hundreds of concert and church audiences of all sizes across America each year.
