You can be involved in EMC missions!!
HOW??

  • Giving to support missionaries and/or projects...!
  • Praying for the needs of missionaries and ministries...!
  • Promoting missions in your local church...!
  • Participating in missions yourself...!
  • There are possibilities of service with the EMC in Mexico!

Short Term: A great chance to listen to God and experience another country.

  1. Every year, a number of groups from different churches come to Mexico to visit the EMC mission field. These groups come for varying reasons: sightseeing, ministry, work, or a combination.  There is no better way to learn about missions and to be impacted by the Lord than by visiting the mission field. Thousands of people testify that their mission field visit was a life-changing experience! Talk with your pastor or youth leader about this possibility! (Email Lisa Walker to inquire...)
  2. Summer assignment is a great opportunity! Do you have your summer free? Why not spend part or all of it on the mission field?  It’s more personal than being part of a group, and more involved since you’d be in-country longer. After your time in Mexico, you can resume normal activities in the Fall.  Some colleges even give credit for reports of summer assignments in foreign countries! (Check with your college beforehand.)   (Email Ken Swearingen to inquire...)
  3. Internship is another possiblity.  If you are studying in college or beyond, you may be able to receive academic credit for time spent in Mexico for a semester.  Talk with your academic advisor about this possibility if your interested, and also submit the application (coming soon). (Email Ken Swearingen to inquire...)

Intermediate: Commit your skill and part of your life to missionary work.

A one to four-year service assignment in Mexico will give you a real chance to learn a great deal of Spanish, truly experience the culture and really make a difference in the ministry.  You are needed  for ministries ranging from personal evangelism, to teaching in the Bible Institute, to children’s and youth ministries. Application

Career: Devote your entire career to the Lord’s ministry in Mexico.

It is a serious thing to consecrate one’s career to the Lord--it must not be done lightly. It requires much preparation and determination. One must not be mistaken about the Lord’ call when making this commitment.

Many of the comforts of home are left behind, and relatives are seen only occasionally.  A worker of the Lord must be motivated by a desire to obey the Lord and serve Him, not by selfish motives, personal ambition or the pursuit of money.  Many missionaries are never able to own their own homes, yet the rewards are very satisfying.  When the Lord calls, true satisfaction can’t be found doing anything else.

If you believe the Lord may be calling you to long-term missionary service, please inquire directly to the Board of World Missions. PO Box 17070 Indianapolis, IN 46217 317-780-8017. You may contact Rev. Ken Swearingen for more information.
