Mexican
Evangelistic Mission

The Mexican Evangelistic Mission is the EMC in Mexico.

Founded in 1926 by the late Dr. Ezequiel Vargas, it affiliated with the EMC shortly after Dr. Vargas came to know Dr. John Hamblen, the the great minister who founded the EMC in 1946 in Memphis, TN.

The MEM is autonomous; it is self-governing, self-propagating and almost entirely self-supporting. Financial support is received from EMCs across the US for specific aspects of the work. Missionaries also partner with EMC (MEM) congregations here to further the work of the Kingdom. To better understand the relationship between the EMC and the MEM, click here.

The MEM consists of over 20 churches, mainly in the northern half of Mexico. It’s northern most church is in Ciudad Juarez, on the US/Mexico border, across from El Paso, Texas. The belt of congregations reaches westward, high into the Tarahumara Mountains, south to Jalpilla, San Luis Potosi, and extends east to El Higo, Veracruz, near the coast of the Gulf of Mexico!

tinoThe General Superintendent, Rev. Constantino Cardenas, has served selflessly and faithfully over the years in many capacities of the MEM.  He knew very well Dr. Vargas and ministered under his direction. Most recently, before being elected as GS, he was the pastor of the Torreon Life and Truth EMC, which shares the LTBI campus. He simultaneously served as the Director of LTBI.

Brother Tino, as he is affectionately known, is married to Maria Cardenas, and they have a son, Daniel, who is 15. Tino brings to the table a great deal of experience and excellent leadership.  He truly is the man for the job of top leader in the MEM! Please pray for him and his family--for their health and the Lord’s continued blessings on them and the ministry!
